Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, Today, heaven bends down to earth, and God Himself steps into our history. The mystery of the Nativity of the Lord is more than a simple historical event; it is the beginning of our salvation, a living call to light, hope, and love. In Bethlehem, in the humble cave, the mystery of eternity is revealed: God becomes man so that man may partake in divinity.
This holy feast not only brings us joy but also reminds us of our Christian responsibility in a wounded world. This year, more than ever, we have witnessed great trials: devastating wars, overwhelming human suffering, divisions among people, and a moral confusion that has clouded the hearts of many. Yet, my beloved, in the midst of this darkness, the light of Bethlehem shines brighter than ever. Christ is born for a sorrowful world, to heal the wounds of the soul and give new meaning to our lives.
The Child in the manger of Bethlehem is not only our Savior but also the King of Peace. In the face of wars, He brings peace. In the face of divisions, He brings unity. In the face of fear, He offers His unconditional love. He comes to free us from the burden of sin and to give us the assurance that no suffering, however great, is stronger than the love of God.
Christmas is also a call. Just as the shepherds hurried to meet Him and the Magi brought their gifts, we too are called to bring the Child the gifts of our faith, our hope, and our love. Let us not allow this feast to be merely a fleeting emotion but a moment of inner transformation.
In a disoriented world, let us be the ones who show the way. In a wounded world, let us be the hands that soothe the pain of our neighbor. In a world without hope, let us be heralds of the light of Christ.
Today, all creation sings: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill among men!” Let us carry this hymn in our hearts and transform it into our daily deeds. Let us not forget that the Nativity of the Lord is the beginning of the victory of life over death, of love over hatred, and of peace over violence.
My beloved, I conclude with a hopeful call: let us look to the future with confidence, for God is with us! He gives us the strength to overcome every trial and to be a light in this darkened world.
“Christ is born, glorify Him! Christ comes from heaven, meet Him! Christ is on earth, exalt your hearts!”
With heartfelt spiritual blessings, Fr. Gabriel Curpene
Merry Christmas to all!
